Internal Patent Instructions
The internal patent instructions (IPIs) were originally established as a means for providing a common reference source to all patent counsel offices on centralized instructions, as stated in the memorandum, Establishment of ERDA Internal Patent Instructions (IPI), dated, July 29, 1977. The IPIs will now be made available through this URL site and will be reviewed annually during the month of June. The field offices are encouraged to submit comments or suggestions for improving or updating the IPIs for the listed categories or for proposing draft IPIs that may prove beneficial.
All posted IPIs were reviewed on April 6, 2006. This is an interim list of IPIs. We anticipate posting the entire list of IPIs by the end of June 2007.
